15 Easy DIY Projects to Do at Home!

Ever wanted to try and take on a do it yourself project but never had the time to? You may currently be finding more time than you have ever had before. You may also be looking around your home and thinking your spaces could use a bit of pizazz. If you have to spend so much time in your home right now, why not spend some time upgrading your current digs! Check out these 15 easy DIY projects to do at home!

These projects are categorized into furniture, decor and home upgrades. The star rating guide is based out of 5 stars and lets you know how difficult the project is to do. Each project gives you the materials you will need and an estimated amount of time it will take to complete. Hardware stores such as Home Depot, Lowes and Home Hardware are all still open right now for curb side pickup or delivery, so you should have access to all of the following materials.

1. DIY Rustic Coffee Table Makeover

Difficulty: ★★

Estimated time:  2 hours 

Materials / tools you will need:

 One coffee table in need of a makeover

• Paint

• Chalk paint would also be great

• Wood stain (Red Mahogany was used in this example)

• Pine wood boards (or any other type or size of wood)

• Sand paper and mouse sander

• Facemask and eye protection

• Foam brushes

• Rags

2. DIY Outdoor Pallet Couch

Difficulty: ★★

Estimated time:  2 – 4 hours (Depends on if you want to make your own cushions. A great video for making your own can be found here!)

Materials / tools you will need:

• Pallets (number will vary depending on size of couch; 4 were used in this example)

• Outdoor cushions (number and size will vary depending on preference)

• Fabric (optional, 3 to 4 yards)

• Safety pins

• Fabric water shield (optional, if using fabric that is not weatherproof)

• Circular saw

• 2 x 4, 8 feet long

• Drill with driver bits

• Screws

7. DIY Metallic Rope Throw Basket

Round laundry basket (can be bought at the dollar store)

1 jar Americana Decor Metallics in Copper

About 50 feet of ½” Jute rope

1 yard felt, fleece or muslin

Hot glue gun and glue sticks

8. DIY Stencil Rug

• Solid colored rug

• Stencil

• Painter’s tape

• Acrylic craft paint (I used white)

• Fabric medium

• Paint roller or stencil brush

• Paint tray

• Plastic drop cloth

• Stir Stick

• Wet wipes or wet paper towels

9. DIY Blanket Ladder

• 1 1/4″ round wood dowels @ 6.5 ft

• Wood Glue

• Miter or circular saw

• Cordless drill and 1/8-inch drill bit

• Staple gun and a pack of electrical cord staples

• Hammer

• Tape Measure

• Gloves

• Safety goggles

• Pencil

• Three 8-foot 2x10s

• Four 8-foot 2x4s

• Sixteen 8-foot 1x4s

• 1 roll of wire mesh with half-inch gap

• 1 roll or weed barrier

15. DIY Wood Pallet Accent Wall

• Wood shipping pallets, 4 or more, depending on wall size (HT stamp)
• Reciprocating saw with 14 TPI metal-cutting saw blade
• Orbital sander
• Sandpaper, 150 grit
• Oil-based stain, light gray (optional)
• Rubber gloves
• Scrap piece of cloth or rag
• Stud finder
• Cordless drill
• 1 x 3 boards, 8 feet long, six or one for every study on wall
• Interior wood screws, 8 inches by 2 1/2 inches, approximately 50
• Measuring tape
• Circular saw or miter saw
• Cordless brad nailer or pneumatic nail gun
• 1 3/4-inch nails, 18-gauge if using a cordless brad nailer
